About the Role:

To ensure the safe, customer focussed efficient and cost-effective delivery of Air Navigation Services throughout New Zealand’s Flight Information Region.

To provide safe and efficient Approach Control Surveillance services to Airways customers. To enhance the productivity and job satisfaction of all members of the team, and the Air Traffic Services operation as a whole, by contributing positively to the ongoing development of procedures, systems, and work practices.

We are seeking experienced Surveillance Controllers to join our Christchurch based surveillance team.

About You:

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Air Traffic Control Licence with a Surveillance Rating and are able to satisfy the pre-requisites to commence on-the-job training on an Approach Control Surveillance Sector (an Approach Control Procedural Rating may also be required for some sectors).
  • Legal authority to live and work in NZ.
  • Proven track record of safe operational performance.
  • Excellent work ethic and positive attitude towards the job, your team and the organisation.
  • Good interpersonal and team skills.
  • Consistently demonstrate behaviours that reflect the Airways values.
  • Excellent attention to detail and proven ability to problem-solves.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team and business environment, collaborate with people, show resilience and agility, take ownership and focus on delivering successful outcomes.

You should also note: 

  • Preference will be given to applicants who hold or have previously held a New Zealand CAR Part 65 Air Traffic Controller Licence (with a Surveillance Rating/validation.
