About the Role:
To ensure the safe, customer focused efficient and cost-effective delivery of Air Navigation Services throughout New Zealand’s Flight Information Region.

To provide safe and efficient Area Control Surveillance services to Airways customers. To enhance the productivity and job satisfaction of all members of the team, and the Tower operation as a whole, by contributing positively to the ongoing development of procedures, systems, and work practices.

Area Surveillance sectors are a 24 hour, 7 days a week, shift working roster which is based on four days on, two days off rotating pattern with average of approximately 35 hours of work per week.

Airways is an NZ Immigration Accredited Employer. The base salary range sits between $114,633 – $167,814 and will be based off previous experience. Additional roster allowances and superannuation will be offered on top of base salary and are subject to change from time to time, depending on the roster construct, and duties undertaken. These allowances and superannuation contributions may take the total package to between $169,233 – $247,749 (current at time of publication).

We are seeking experienced Area Control Surveillance Controllers to join us on our Oceanic based sectors in Auckland.

About You:
To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Air Traffic Control Licence with Area Control Surveillance (an Area Control Procedural Rating will also be required for our Oceanic sectors).
  • Proven track record of safe operational performance.
  • Excellent work ethic and positive attitude towards the job, your team and the organisation.
  • Good interpersonal and team skills.
  • Consistently demonstrate behaviours that reflect the Airways values.
  • Excellent attention to detail and proven ability to problem-solves.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team and business environment, collaborate with people, show resilience and agility, take ownership and focus on delivering successful outcomes.

You should also note: 

  • Preference will be given to applicants who hold or have previously held a New Zealand CAR Part 65 Air Traffic Controller Licence (or Australian equivalent) with Area Control Surveillance Rating/validation (and, if required by the specific sector an Area Control Procedural Rating).
