About the Role:
As the ATS Health, Safety & Wellbeing Specialist, you will support the safe delivery of Air Traffic Services across New Zealand. Working closely with ATS leaders and frontline teams. You'll provide practical guidance to operational teams, support workforce wellbeing initiatives, identify emerging risks and trends, and help drive continuous improvement across the ATS network.

Key Areas of Focus & Responsibilities:

  • Partner with ATS leaders and teams to support safe and healthy ways of working.
  • Provide practical advice on risk and fatigue management.
  • Support and coordinate the ATS Health & Safety Representative network.
  • Identify trends, risks and opportunities through data analysis and operational engagement.
  • Deliver safety and wellbeing initiatives across ATS operational sites.
  • Work closely with frontline teams to understand operational challenges and drive improvements.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of key risk controls and support continuous improvement activities.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across ATS and Safety & Assurance to promote a positive safety culture.
About You:

You are an experienced health and safety professional who enjoys working with operational teams to solve problems and improve outcomes. You can build trusted relationships, provide sound advice, analyse information, and influence action. Most importantly, you understand how to balance operational realities with health, safety and wellbeing requirements. You can build credibility quickly, analyse information to identify trends and risks, and influence others to take action. You are comfortable working across multiple sites and stakeholders, balancing operational realities with risk and wellbeing requirements.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Experience in a health and safety role within a complex operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of New Zealand health and safety legislation and risk management practices.
  • The ability to build credibility and effective working relationships with leaders, employees and Health & Safety Representatives.
  • Experience supporting leaders to identify, manage and improve health and safety risks.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn information into meaningful insights and actions
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A practical approach and the ability to work effectively with frontline operational teams.
  • Experience in fatigue management, human factors, or a safety-critical environment would be highly regarded.
