About the Role:
Newly created permanent full-time opportunity for a Commercial Bid Manager to join our Airways International Limited team based at our Christchurch based campus.  

Reporting to the global Head of Business Development, in this role you’ll lead the end-to-end bid process across all AIL business units, ensuring timely, compliant, and compelling responses to EOIs, RFIs, and RFPs within the established commercial framework.

This role will shape and drive the bid strategy in close collaboration with Regional Directors and cross-functional teams, including Commercial, Legal, and Finance, to deliver high-quality submissions that meet customer requirements and enhance AIL’s competitive position in global markets.

The Commercial Bid Manager will also oversee bid governance, systems, tools, and processes to ensure accurate and up-to-date customer and market intelligence. Additionally, the role will promote continuous improvement, maintain momentum for future opportunities, and support successful contract outcomes through effective bid management practices.

About You:
Due to the nature of the role, you’ll be an experienced Bid Manager who’s led this function for medium to large organisations where you’ve gained international exposure.

Additionally, you’ll hold:

  • Tertiary qualification in business, law, marketing, commerce or a similar degree
  • At least 5 years senior bid management experience leading this function for a medium or large organisation
  • More than 10 years’ experience working within a competitive sales environment and team
  • Experience in developing complex proposals and bids for international markets
  • Significant experience with business systems including bid management applications, CRM systems, Power BI and analytics tools
  • The ability to work in a dynamic team and business environment, collaborate with people, show resilience and agility, take ownership, and focus on delivering successful outcomes.

Beneficial:

  • Experience in compiling insights and delivering reports for sales and senior management teams
  • Moderate to advance capability using MS Office products – we utilise the MS 365 suite
  • Experience working in the aviation sector.
