About the Business Unit:
The People & Partnerships Group manages our people, customer and stakeholder relationships, communications, sustainability, and strategy. They ensure an integrated approach to managing internal and external relationships, promoting a customer-focused and engaged workplace culture. They oversee strategic customer and stakeholder relationships, communications, and the development of Airways Corporate Strategy, including sustainability.

The Group plays a critical role in supporting the business to achieve its objectives by providing high-quality service and advice that is proactive, innovative, and impactful.

About the Role:
We have an opportunity for a full-time permanent Communications Advisor to join our Auckland (airport) based team.

This role is responsible for providing day to day communications support and advice to the business, managing communications channels and supporting the wider Communications team to deliver their communications plan, as well as supporting the delivery of activities to drive engagement and culture internally.

This includes taking ownership of our intranet, social media pages, website and sponsorship programme, as well as supporting the business to deliver a wide range of communications activities internally and externally.

You’ll be part of a team that are responsible for protecting and enhancing the reputation of Airways, responding to media queries, developing activation plans to support key initiatives within the business and supporting the delivery of proactive media engagement, events and corporate reporting.

This is a broad spectrum role in a small team so there is plenty of opportunity to use your existing skills and develop new ones. We have a strong focus on development and are looking for someone with strong skills and a desire to grow.

About You:
To be successful you will be someone who has the ability to work across a range of projects, channels and topics simultaneously, managing priorities and deadlines, and engaging with stakeholders across all parts of the business.

In particular we are interested in people with good media management experience with New Zealand business media. Experience in crisis management will be considered favourably.

In addition, you will be someone with:

  • Relevant tertiary degree in Communications / Journalism or equivalent experience in a commercial domain
  • 3 + years' experience in a relevant business communications or PR agency role
  • Demonstrated experience in dealing with media across all mediums including print, broadcast, online and social media management
  • Solid experience managing a creative agency, projects and campaigns, events and key relationships
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing communications plans channel management including social media and SharePoint.

Previous experience in aviation, Government or SOE, or an operational environment is desirable but not essential.
