About the
Team:
The Technology
Group is responsible for the effective delivery, management, and services of
all technology disciplines within the air navigation services environment.
These include Oceanic and Domestic Air Traffic Management, Security and a
National MPLS Network, National Operations/Maintenance and Specialist Support,
Information Technology and Service Management, Project Delivery/Flight
Inspection and National Engineering.
The IT &
Service Management team reports to the IT & Service Management Manager with
peers to this role being the National IT Operations Manager, the Enterprise
Applications Manager, the IT Service Assurance Manager and the Service Desk
Vendor Manager.
About the Role:
We have a newly created permanent
full-time opportunity for a Data and Analytics Architect to join us in Auckland
(airport) or Christchurch (Burnside). This role mixes hands-on functional tasks
with strategic tasks, ensuring our data is reliable, accessible, secure, and
aligned with business objectives.
This will see you develop, design,
implement and maintain the organisation’s data architecture, including data
models, schemas, and data flow design to support a centralised data function.
You’ll establish and maintain a robust
governance framework, policies, and standards to ensure alignment with business
needs, security best practices, and regulatory compliance for data architectures.
Additionally, you’ll provide technical
direction and oversight to enterprise application and platform teams, ensuring
architectural consistency, adherence to best practices, and continuous
improvement of performance and reliability.

About You:
For success you’ll hold a deep
understanding of data modelling, data governance, and integration best
practices.
Additionally, you will hold:
- A relevant tertiary degree in IT, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- Around 10 years’ experience in the data management domain, with at least three (3) years in an architecture role.
- Design and development experience building data solutions using MS Fabric (non-negotiable), Power BI, dataflows, data factory, and lakehouse architecture.
- Experience with Azure Synapse, Dataverse, and broader Azure Data Services (e.g. Azure SQL, Azure Data Lake and Azure Purview).
- Experience with resource allocation, budgeting, timeline management and data-driven decision making.
- Knowledge of data modelling, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
- Experience with database technologies (e.g. SQL, NoSQL, cloud data platforms).
- Ability to work in a dynamic team and business environment, collaborate with people, show resilience and agility, take ownership and focus on delivering successful outcomes.
Beneficial:
Understanding of security principles, risk management, and compliance
requirements.
