About
the Team:
The
Technology Group is responsible for the effective delivery, management and
services of all technology disciplines within the air navigation services
environment – engineering design, software design and development, technology
architecture and infrastructure, asset management, installation and
maintenance, technical training, workload planning, maintenance program
development, project management, and logistics support.
The
Technical Training unit provides training of Airways engineering and
maintenance technical staff throughout New Zealand.
About the
Role:
We
have an opportunity for a Manager Technical Training to join our Christchurch
campus on a full-time permanent basis.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Lead a team of technical instructors and draughtspeople. This will see you direct, empower, motivate, and develop individuals to achieve personal, business unit, group, and organisational goals
- Ensure current and future technical training requirements are identified, appropriate course material developed, learning objectives established, delivery methods defined, and the courses delivered to a high standard
- Ensure the engineering and maintenance technical staff are appropriately trained and assessed to enable them to maintain and repair equipment to agreed reliability targets
- Champion customer requirements and develop a ‘Community of Practice’ within the Technology Group by engaging with all stakeholders towards fully understanding their needs and requirements.
- Foster an environment of continuous
improvement, driving performance excellence, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.

About You:
Due to
the nature of the role and the teams’ impact, you’ll have solid people
leadership experience, including direct line management, financial planning,
and a technical background. You will be an effective communicator able to work
with multiple stakeholders to establish and deliver a service. You will also
have a passion for sharing knowledge supporting your leadership of
technology-based training and development.
Additionally, you will hold:
- Qualification in training and development
- Highly technology literate with a background in engineering and maintenance
- A successful history of delivering business improvements with a demonstrated passion for maintaining standards
- Ability
to work in a dynamic business environment, influence and collaborate with
people internally and externally, show resilience and agility, take ownership
and focus on delivering successful business outcomes.
Beneficial:
- Five years’ experience delivering training and development to adults at a minimum level of a National Certificate in Adult Education and Training (level 5)
- Understanding of ISO9000, CAA rule parts, ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation) and ATSEP (Air Traffic Safety Electronic Personnel) requirements
- Previous experience in, and a genuine passion for, the aviation, transport or technology industries
- Experienced with negotiating contracts and managing suppliers/vendors
- Proven
success with delivering projects on time and to budget with quality outcomes.
