About the Team:
Responsible for financial management, legal, property, investment and governance functions ensuring effective stewardship of the business and efficient allocation of resource to deliver outcomes established in the business plan.  

The business unit is made up of:

  • Financial strategy, business planning and budgeting
  • Financial management, accounting, reporting and payroll
  • Treasury
  • Legal and company secretary
  • Enterprise project management
  • Commercial Procurement & Property
  • Financial systems.

About the Role:
Newly created permanent full-time opportunity for a National Asset Manager to join us at our Christchurch based campus.

Reporting to the Head of Property and Procurement, in this role you’ll lead a team responsible for delivering both operational and capital building projects as well as maintenance activities across the building portfolio.

This will see you work with the Property Manager and collaborates with Airways’ operational and technical teams to ensure asset management strategies are aligned with organisational objectives. Additionally, you’ll provide strategic oversight of Airways’ manned building assets, ensuring full compliance with all relevant legislation, codes, and internal policies.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Leading the development and implementation of a comprehensive 10-year building maintenance asset plan
  • Ensuring ongoing compliance with building regulations, including the Building Compliance Schedule and Building Warrant of Fitness
  • Driving strategic, tactical, and operational planning to support Airways’ commitment to maintaining a safe, compliant, and future-ready property portfolio.

About You:
Due to the nature of the role and our operations, you'll be comfortable working in a complex, regulated environment with exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.

Additionally, you will have:

  • 10 + years prior experience in the maintenance of buildings including design, construction and budget management
  • Experience leading, empowering, motivating and developing a team
  • Experience with project methodologies, project management and project governance at sponsor level
  • Efficient user of the MS Office suite
  • Sound knowledge of safety legislation
  • Ability to work in a dynamic business environment, collaborate with people internally and externally, show resilience and agility, take ownership and focus on delivering successful business outcomes.
