About the Team:
The
Technology business unit is responsible for the effective delivery, management
and services of all technology disciplines within the air navigation services
environment – engineering design, software design and development, technology
architecture and infrastructure, asset management, installation and
maintenance, technical training, workload planning, maintenance program
development, project management, and logistics support.
The Air Traffic Services Development (ATSD) unit provides safe and reliable Air Traffic Management (ATM) systems to our Service Delivery group. ATSD provides enhancement and problem fixing capability as well as operational support and adaptation.
The
Oceanic Systems Team Leader has seven peers and eight direct reports.
About the Role:
With
the current incumbent taking up another role within Airways, we have an
opportunity for someone to step into the role of Oceanic Systems Team Leader on
full-time permanent basis in Auckland.
Our
Auckland team are based at and opposite The Quad (Leonard Isitt Drive, Auckland
Airport) which is within walking distance from Countdown, Chemist Warehouse,
Jetts Fitness, cafes, take-away shops, and restaurants.
Reporting to the Air Traffic Services Development
Manager, you’ll lead
(and manage) the requirements and acceptance testing for the Oceanic ATS
operational systems to optimise system service delivery so that it reflects the
changing needs of customers and staff. With the help of your team, you will assist
with finding and assessing issues with the system and deploying releases into
the live operational environment. Additionally, you’ll fulfil operational
people leadership tasks, leading your team of direct reports to success.
You’ll
maintain an overview of current Communication, Navigation & Surveillance (CNS)/Air Traffic Management (ATM) system developments in
the international aviation community – to enable you to anticipate and evaluate
enhancements for Airways’ Oceanic Control System (OCS) and identify
opportunities.

About You:
For success you’ll have worked
in a complex environment, working with diverse teams and stakeholders to align
objectives and drive successful outcomes.
Furthermore, you will hold:
- Experience in system development (5+ years) in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- A continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to identify and implement process and system enhancements.
- Understanding of risk assessment and financial awareness.
- Confidence needed to interact with both internal and external customers.
- Motivation
to learn and seek out the information needed to ensure you, and your team deliver
at the highest quality and standard.
Beneficial:
- Experience leading technical, high performing teams in a unionised environment.
- Oceanic ATC rating.
- Good working knowledge of OCS and Oceanic procedures.
- Understanding of regulatory environments, New Zealand and international.
- Knowledge
of project management frameworks.
