About the Team:
The Legal and Audit Group provides enterprise-wide governance, legal stewardship, and independent assurance to uphold Airways’ organisational integrity, transparency, and accountability. The Group ensures legal compliance, strengthens corporate governance, and delivers independent audit oversight consistent with the Three Lines model.

It supports the Board, CEO and Executive Leadership Team with expert legal advice and audit services that safeguard Airways’ interests, reduce organisational risk, and enable informed, high-quality decision-making.

About the Role:
We have an opportunity for a Senior Auditor to join us on a permanent full-time basis at our Auckland (airport) office or Christchurch campus.  

Reporting to the Audit Manager, you’ll deliver high quality audit and assurance activities that support strong governance, effective risk management and continuous improvement across Airways.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Lead and contribute to the planning, execution and reporting of audits within the Group Audit & Assurance Programme.
  • Evaluate internal controls, assess compliance with policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, and identify opportunities to strengthen organisational performance.
  • Shape the audit scopes, manage assigned audit engagements, develop clear and actionable recommendations, and prepare high quality audit reports for management.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of audit methodologies, supporting consistency of assurance practices, and providing insights that help the organisation anticipate and respond to emerging risks.

About You:
You’ll have a safety-led mindset, be proactive and inquisitive with the ability to effectively assess and communicate risks. As a natural communicator you’ll be an avid listener, with stakeholder relationship skills second to none.

Additionally, you will have:

  • A degree in Commerce, Audit or Business Management or equivalent vocational qualification or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 to 3 years audit experience (internal and/or external) gained in an organisation of similar size (800+ employees) and complexity (SOE with multiple locations and companies).
  • Proven auditing skills with the ability to pick up/build specialised knowledge.
  • Exceptional organisational, analytical, and planning skills.
  • Well-developed skills using Microsoft suite of products, with a focus on MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and SharePoint.

Beneficial:

  • CISA/CIA certification.
  • Risk management experience.
