About the Team:
The Technology business unit is responsible for the effective delivery, management and services of all technology disciplines within the air navigation services environment – engineering design, software design and development, technology architecture and infrastructure, asset management, installation and maintenance, technical training, workload planning, maintenance program development, project management, and logistics support.

The National Operations and Maintenance team provides the expertise and support in engineering design development and management for projects, installation, maintenance, and fault repair for Airways ground-based aviation infrastructure (control centres; control towers; communications, navigation, surveillance (CNS) and meteorological systems).

Operations and Maintenance includes teams located throughout New Zealand and a 24/7 National Operations Centre that monitors the infrastructure. Collectively they ensure the performance, reliability and availability of Airways infrastructure so they are available when required and are operating to defined specifications that meet agreed customer service availability.

About the Role:
We have two permanent full-time opportunities available for Technical Coordinators to join our Christchurch based campus.

As a Technical Coordinator you will work collaboratively as part of the Technology Group National Support Team to deliver safe and efficient technical services in accordance with agreed standards and procedures.

This includes:

  • 24/7 monitoring and control of New Zealand’s air traffic management, communications, surveillance, navigation, network, meteorological, power and wide area network systems.
  • Coordinating fault management and planned maintenance activities between Technology Group personnel, external service providers and Air Traffic Control operations.
  • Constant assessing conflict and risk of planned and unplanned work as the daily situation changes, collaborating with the Duty manager to minimise operational impact and escalating critical outages or potential outages to the business including:
  • Providing first line technical support, fault investigation and remote restoration of Air Traffic services and dependencies like power and network systems where possible.
  • Providing operational support for field maintenance technicians.
  • Being the customer interface for all services operated by Airway’s Technology Group.

Hours of work:
40 hours per week during your training period (12 – 18 months), then on a rotational 24 hours, 7 days a week roster, working 8-hour shifts.

About You:
Due to the unique nature of our operations and the complexity of this role, this role requires someone who is eager to continue their personal development, a willingness to work on a rotating roster and the interpersonal skills needed to work with a variety of stakeholders.

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • B. Eng. Tech (Electrical, Networks, Computing) or B. Eng. Tech (Electrical, Electronics), or equivalent qualification.
  • 5 plus years’ experience working in a relevant field of electronics, avionics, telecommunications, IT or networking where you gained exposure to radio frequency.
  • Proven capabilities in monitoring and management of a wide variety of technologies, including fault investigation skills, configuration and servicing in an organisation of similar size and complexity to Airways.
  • Competent in using industry standard network and system monitoring protocols and management tools. SNMP, Solarwinds Orion, Zabbix, etc.
  • Familiar with the aviation environment including awareness of ICAO authority requirements/recommendations and NZ CAA rules applying to Airways business.
  • Good understanding of a modern service management framework.
  • Efficient user of Office365 and document management systems.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team and business environment, collaborate with people, show resilience and agility, take ownership and focus on delivering successful outcomes.

Beneficial:

  • Cisco CCNA Certification or equivalent.

About Our Offering:
The base salary range sits between $100,426 - $112,809 and will be based off previous experience. In addition to this there is the potential to earn penal rates for work outside normal work hours and overtime for additional hours worked amounting to approximately 20% when you qualify to work in the roster.

On top of the base salary and penal rates, Airways offers a generous superannuation scheme with employer contributions of up to 11% of earnings (T&Cs). We also offer five (5) weeks annual leave, vast learning opportunities and career progression opportunities.
