About the Team:
The Technology Group is responsible
for the effective delivery, management and services of all technology
disciplines within the air navigation services environment – engineering
design, software design and development, technology architecture and
infrastructure, asset management, installation and maintenance, technical
training, workload planning, maintenance program development, project
management, and logistics support.
They are also responsible for
designing, deploying, and maintaining the infrastructure that enables Airways
to deliver its Air Traffic Management (ATM) services nationally and within our
Pacific FIR. Airways technical assets are spread widely across the country and
form a resilient mission critical infrastructure of national significance.
Systems are often located in areas that are remote.
About the Role:
Newly created permanent
full-time Test Specialist role available at our Christchurch based campus. Reporting
to the Technology Testing Team Leader, this role is focused on delivering
high-quality testing outcomes that support the successful delivery of projects
within the Airways’ Technology Group. As Airways operates within a regulated
environment, this role will work with our regulator.
This role will see you
perform hands-on execution of testing activities across systems and projects,
ensuring that solutions meet defined requirements. You’ll apply established
testing frameworks and practices to verify and validate Airways systems,
contributing to risk mitigation and regulatory compliance.
While primarily
responsible for direct delivery, the role may also provide direction to
contracted testing resources as required, ensuring consistency with Airways’
testing standards.
By collaborating
closely with project teams, technical specialists, and subject matter experts,
you’ll helps ensure that testing is thorough, efficient, and aligned with
project timelines and objectives, ultimately supporting the reliability and
safety of Airways’ mission-critical operations.

About You:
For success you will have
worked in a complex multi-stakeholder and cross-functional environment, on both
operational (BAU) and project work.
Additionally, you must have:
- ISTQB Foundations certification
- 5+ years’ experience across the full testing lifecycle (from requirements through to release) of software and/or hardware, including leading testing activities
- Ability to assess and understand the broad context of an issue, to draw conclusions and/or provide recommendations
- Demonstrated skill to accurately interpret complex information and data, then tailor information to meet the needs of different stakeholders
- Drive and proactiveness needed to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment, whilst not compromising quality
- Ability to collaborate
effectively in a dynamic environment, demonstrating resilience, ownership, and a
focus on delivering successful outcomes.
Desirable:
- Experience in creating test automation frameworks
- Experience in automating tests on cyber-physical systems
- Experience in leading or implementing performance tests
- Experience in using test management and defect management tools
- Knowledge
of the aviation industry especially from a test perspective.
